Supporting Sustainability at the Wheelchair Curling World Championships

At Cunninghame Furniture Recycling Company, we’re always looking for ways to promote sustainability while supporting our local community. That’s why we were pleased to be involved in the recent World Wheelchair Curling Championships at Auchenharvie Leisure Centre in Stevenston.

The event brought together athletes from around the world, and behind the scenes, a network of Ayrshire businesses helped make it happen. As part of that effort, CFRC provided reuse furniture for the athletes lounges, giving competitors a comfortable place to rest between matches.

Rather than sourcing new furniture for the event, organisers opted for a more sustainable approach. CFRC supplied seating that had been donated, helping to reduce waste whilst cutting costs.

The championships were made possible by a team of organisations, including other businesses from Ayrshire providing food, flooring and curling stones, led by Scottish Curling’s local organising committee.

“Cunninghame Furniture Recycling Company’s involvement in the championships demonstrates how environmental responsibility and cost-effectiveness can go hand-in-hand when running events.”CFRC provided seating that not only prevented waste but also allowed the event to make real savings, thanks to our free provision and subsequent reprocessing of the furniture donated during the championships.”
